Hear it! Believe It! Connect It!

Big City, Bigger Fun! Grab a cab and get ready for fun around every corner in LifeWay’s Big Apple Adventure, Where Faith and Life Connect. As kids explore the big city, they’ll learn how to step out in faith and connect with Jesus--sharing the message of Christ with their world.

So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message of Jesus Christ. — Romans 10:17 (HCSB)

Main Hall Decor (WIP Day 14 of 23)

Day 14 : Spidey, Timesquare buildings , Broklyn Bridge, Moon, Meteorite and Starry Backdrop and The Torch!

A bright and sunny morning. We already had kids volunteers lining up as early as 10am. Yes, somehow is was the day that many kids helped out. Several of them stayed till dinner time and one of them pleaded her mum to allow her to stay on even after dinner, in which they left only about 10pm and she came back the next morning as well. Even new parents with first born child also came! Such was the spirit in VBS, regardless adults or kids, hard labour or not they were enchanted for some reasons but most all admirable was their willingness to be part of God's project. We core decor team have to admit, hardly know how many more days to completion (on highsight, we probably have another 9-10 days more), these kids as well as adults volunteers had spurred us onwards. Thank you kids, thank you Mummy, you know who you are :o)

Spiderman making its way as a special guest star appearance! Inspiration from Spiderman Musical, the latest musical release (2012) in New York. It was not in the original master blueprint or plan. However we have uncle Brian, who just came back from New York, found out that this was missing and hence, in special dedication to all, we decided to go ahead..and afterall why not...and am sure the children will be thrilled - however, in reality, we soon realised that actually the adults were more thrilled! hmm..a big question mark to our newer and younger generation..on what actually ticks them? ;o) . Anyway stories aside. The Uni students (both non PBC and DUMC visitors and an International student from as far as Mauritius) striking their best pose..while painting up the Spidey and also assisted the decor team to put the TimeSquare backdrop buildings).

The bridge is finally getting its deserving coat of paint. The backdrop, its' magic glimmer and sparkles that you saw, it was made possible with the help of two fans hidden at the top of church attic, continous blowing from the top, giving the needed breeze to sway the backdrop gently. Reflecting the lights were hundreds of sequines glued in. Many fingers were burnt for having to finger fasten the sequines over the hot glue emitted from the gun. Yes, quite a painstaking job indeed.

The black cloth was sewn up by a volunteer and she has painted/splatter a milkway way look alike, meteorite and stars. She was also the very same volunteer who painted the huge cloth for Ayers Rock (Boomerang Express) 2 years ago and also housed the making of 100 over giant Frangi flowers (Outrigger Island), the year where Queens Shilagila reigns. ;o)

The moon, ah...it was done up by a family - father son and daughter bantering throughout how the moon should be done up. Well, we core team think it was beautifully done up. Don't you think so too? ;o)

The Torch, the torch, ..we were truely blessed not only with creative volunteers..but i must say..they are of renassaince women and man..who are all rounders...just asigned them anything , they will have it figure out soon enough. See for yourself how the torch are transform! Well, we would probably not see the tunnel of the lights without all this gifted volunteers. Praise the Lord for granting such gifts but more so for their faithfulness in serving and their friendships!
